The Hotel Plaza Grande is located directly in the Plaza De La Independencia, in front of La Iglesia Catedral and The Presidential Palace.
Originally one of the first hotels built in the Ecuadorian capital, after decades of service this hotel eventually closed its doors. In 2005, however, the building caught the attention of a group of hoteliers, who began making investments to tastefully restore the old hotel to the highest standards. Today, the boutique Hotel Plaza Grande offers the city’s finest accommodations.
This luxury all-suite boutique hotel is ideally located for exploring the attractions that Quito’s historic district has to offer.
Each of its 15 luxury suites is individually decorated with the finest furnishings, carved-wood details, chandeliers and marble bathrooms to recreate the opulence of the early part of the past century.
For those special occasions, dinner in the hotel’s formal “La Belle Epoch” restaurant is accompanied by live operatic performances (Wednesday to Saturday).

Location:
Just 20 minutes from the new Mariscal Sucre International Airport, the Plaza Grande Hotel is located in the heart of colonial Quito, which itself was declared the first “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO for its wealth of well-preserved historic architecture, churches and plazas.
The hotel is situated directly in the Plaza de la Independencia, across from the city’s main Cathedral and near the Presidential Palace. Enjoying such a unique location, convenient to such emblematic buildings of the colonial era, you will discover Quito’s history in those and other spectacular buildings nearby – including La Compañía Church, the churches and plazas of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the City Museum (Museo de la Ciudad), to name just a few.
Being in Quito’s historic Old Town, you’ll find yourself marveling at the sights as you wander down its narrow streets, past its restored colonial architecture and through its lively plazas. Built centuries ago by indigenous laborers and artisans, the churches, convents, chapels and monasteries of Quito are steeped in history and cast in legend.
The district surrounding Plaza Grande Hotel is bustling …full of touting street vendors, meandering pedestrians, honking taxis, trudging buses and frantic policemen trying to direct traffic down congested, narrow one-way streets. The area is delightfully surreal – one where the more you explore the more you’ll discover.
